Workers Exposed To Radioactive Substance At Hospital In Connecticut


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Authorities in Connecticut say a number of individuals have been uncovered to an unidentified radioactive substance after a hospital’s nuclear drugs lab was damaged into.

New Haven Hearth Chief John Alston says staff found the lab within the most cancers middle at St. Raphael’s Hospital had been vandalized once they arrived at round eight a.m. Saturday.

As WCBS 880’s John Metaxas studies, the employees quickly realized the black powder on the underside of their footwear may current an issue.

Officers say a minimum of three lab technicians have been uncovered to radioactive materials and underwent decontamination. General, a complete of twelve staff have been uncovered to the unidentified radioactive substance, however none have exhibited signs.

The hospital says the publicity was contained.

Alston says the victims are anticipated to be OK. It’s unclear why the lab was damaged into.
