CORRALITOS >> Deputies in a rural area of Corralitos on Thursday approached a 30-year-old man driving a stolen Ford F350 crew cab truck at the 1200 block of Buzzard Lagoon Road, a Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
About 1:20 p.m., deputies saw the Ryan Roby of Watsonville driving the truck and he stopped, talked to officers but declined to get out before he sped up to 50 mph on a curvy, muddy, one-lane road in heavy woods. Roby continued to speed away and eluded arrest, Sgt. Brian Cleveland said.
He is sought by authorities. He will face charges of evading a police officer, possession of stolen property, driving on a suspended license and resist or delay a peace officer, Cleveland said.
Roby has short brown hair, green eyes and is 6-feet tall and 195 pounds, Cleveland said.
Friday, members of the Santa Cruz Auto Theft Reduction Task Force went to Roby’s home at the 300 block of Loma Escondida Road where about five stolen vehicles were located, including the Ford truck in which Roby fled, Cleveland said. Roby was not there.
Other stolen goods were recovered, Cleveland said. There were two trailers, a box truck, tractor, he said. There were three stolen trucks.
An arrest warrant is sought for Roby’s arrest.
