CHICAGO — The Prepare dinner County board is predicted to vote as we speak to repeal its unpopular tax on sweetened drinks.
The board’s finance committee voted yesterday to finish the penny-an-ounce tax, after listening to hours of public testimony.
Board President Toni Preckwinkle got here up with the tax as a strategy to shut a gap within the finances.
Preckwinkle and others are warning, the repeal of the soda tax might pressure the county to chop serves and lay individuals off.
Even with repeal, the tax will proceed via November.
