WASHINGTON — The American serviceman killed in Yemen over the weekend was Peoria native William “Ryan” Owens, the Division of Protection introduced Monday.

A Chief Particular Warfare Operator within the Navy SEALS, the 36-yr-previous Owens was killed throughout a raid concentrating on Al Qaeda, the DoD stated in a press release. Three different troops have been additionally injured, and 14 Al Qaeda fighters have been reportedly killed within the firefight.

The raid was permitted by President Trump, and Owens’ dying was the primary of his presidency.

“People are saddened this morning with information that a lifetime of a heroic service member has been taken in our battle towards the evil of radical Islamic terrorism,” Trump stated in a press release.
