ORLANDO, Florida (KFSN) —
New surveillance video exhibits passengers operating as a backpack begins to smoke at Orlando Worldwide Airport on Friday.
TSA officer and Military veteran Ricardo Perez is then seen grabbing the smoking bag and putting it between two concrete pillars.
Perez stated the pillars would have blocked a possible blast from passengers.
“I leaned over, grabbed it, picked it up,” Perez recalled. “I used to be already shut, so if there was an IED, I used to be already gone. So I’d as nicely attempt to save as many as I can.”
Investigators stated an overheated lithium-ion digital camera battery triggered that bag to smoke.
