WASHINGTON — A practice carrying members of Congress — together with Home Speaker Paul Ryan — to their legislative retreat in West Virginia hit a truck Wednesday, a number of sources advised CNN.
An aide confirmed Ryan was on the practice and is ok. Individually, a congressman on the practice informed CNN a lot of the employees and members on the practice are OK.
The Amtrak practice left from Union Station in Washington earlier Wednesday, and was carrying members of Congress, in addition to their spouses, some relations and aides to the lawmakers.
Rep. John Faso, a New York Republican, who was on the practice that crashed, stated he was capable of see the truck that hit the practice, and that he was advised that accidents have been anticipated from individuals within the truck, not the practice.
“There was (what) seems like a tractor trailer carrying trash that was hit by the practice,” Faso, who stated he was within the third automotive of the practice, informed CNN.
“I feel everybody on the practice is OK,” Faso stated. “I don’t know that for positive, it’s an extended practice. However a lot of the concern is for the individuals outdoors.”
One GOP supply was not sure what number of members of Congress have been on the practice or how many individuals have been injured, however stated there have been accidents.
That supply stated members “hit the deck.”
Republican members of Congress have been on their approach for a retreat at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, beginning Wednesday and ending Friday. Vice President Mike Pence, who was not on the practice, is scheduled to talk to members later Wednesday and President Donald Trump is scheduled to deal with the occasion tomorrow.
