Train carrying GOP lawmakers to policy retreat hits truck


WASHINGTON —

A chartered practice carrying dozens of GOP lawmakers to a Republican retreat in West Virginia struck a rubbish truck south of Charlottesville, Virginia on Wednesday, lawmakers stated.

No lawmakers have been believed injured within the accident.

“We’re positive, however our practice hit a rubbish truck. Members with medical coaching are aiding the drivers of the truck,” Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., wrote on Twitter.

A GOP aide stated the practice is partially derailed.

Oklahoma GOP Rep. Tom Cole says an individual on the truck might have been critically injured..

Cole stated he is not conscious of any accidents on the practice. A GOP aide talking on situation of anonymity says no lawmakers have been injured.

Cole stated he believes the accident occurred south of Charlottesville, Virginia. The practice was en path to the Greenbrier resort in White Sulfur Springs for a 3-day points retreat that includes appearances by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

Rep. Bradley Byrne, R-Ala., tweeted: “The practice carrying GOP members to our retreat had a collision, however Rebecca and I are each okay. Safety and docs on board are serving to safe the scene and deal with accidents.”
