NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An investigation is ongoing after police fatally shot a person who they stated had stabbed two feminine safety guards at a homeless facility within the Bronx.
Police stated sixty seven-yr-previous Cornell Lockhart used a steak knife to assault the safety guards within the foyer of the Hughes Home, a shelter for homeless and mentally unwell, round eight p.m. Monday in East Tremont.
When police arrived, two officers encountered Lockhart within the foyer and repeatedly ordered him to drop the knife.
“The officers repeated these instructions greater than 20 occasions, the armed man didn’t comply and as an alternative stepped in the direction of the officers with the knife displayed in his proper hand,” NYPD Chief of Patrol Terence Monahan stated.
