Prosecutor: Police shoot vehicle to stop it, killing driver

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts authorities say a police officer responding to a report of potential gunfire fired photographs at a car to cease it from leaving, killing the driving force.

The Bristol County district lawyer’s workplace says Fall River police noticed a number of automobiles leaving the world after arriving on the scene Sunday night time.

Authorities say the officer shot at a automotive to maintain it from leaving. The 19-yr-previous driver, Larry Ruiz-Barreto, of New Bedford, was struck and died. He was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital, the place he was declared lifeless.

A number of minutes later, police responded to a disturbance on the hospital and arrested 5 individuals on disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace expenses. Police say the capturing and the hospital disturbance are related.


The defendants have been family members of Barreto. They have been arraigned Monday.
