Police: Speeding trooper who ran stop sign charged in death

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A former South Carolina trooper has been charged with reckless murder after authorities say he prompted a deadly crash by operating a cease signal whereas rushing.

Richland County Sheriff’s Lt. Curtis Wilson says 28-yr-previous Brandon Norton was arrested Wednesday.

Wilson says Norton was in his patrol automotive driving eighty mph in a forty-mph zone on July thirteen when he ran a cease check in northern Richland County and slammed right into a minivan.

Wilson stated in a press release that an eighty one-yr-previous passenger within the van died from a head damage a month later.


Wilson did not reply to an e mail asking if Norton was on obligation, was responding to a name or had his blue lights on.

The Freeway Patrol says Norton resigned on Aug. thirteen after a yr with the pressure.
