New York Senate Republicans OK $1.9B In Funding For 3rd LIRR Track


ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Republicans within the GOP-managed state Senate are backing a $1.9 billion plan to construct a 3rd monitor for the Lengthy Island Rail Street in Nassau County.

Senate Majority Chief John Flanagan of Suffolk County introduced Tuesday that Republican senators have agreed to public funding for an almost 10-mile third monitor hall from Floral Park to Hicksville, Newsday reported.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo stated in a press release, “After many years of delay we took motion to basically change the financial system on Lengthy Island and safe its future prosperity.”

The transfer comes after opponents in New Hyde Park and Floral Park reached an settlement on high quality-of-life points with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the LIRR.
