ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — New York State Sen. Michael Gianaris is introducing laws to bar the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey from expending any assets to assist the federal authorities implement President Donald Trump’s journey ban.
The measure from Gianaris (D-Queens) would prohibit the Port Authority from supporting the trouble to implement the order in any means.
“To the extent they’re utilizing Port Authority amenities particularly for this government order or Port Authority personnel particularly to implement this government order, they might not be allowed to take action,” Gianaris stated. “So whether or not meaning there can be fewer detentions or whether or not it will make them discover alternate places I don’t understand how they might deal with it, all I do know is we have now an obligation to withstand.”
Gianaris stated though the Port Authority is a bi-state company, his attorneys stated it’s inside the energy of the New York State Legislature to regulate its New York-based mostly amenities.
