Man Dies After Bizarre Boating Accident On Lake Fenton


FENTON (WWJ) – Authorities say a fifty seven-yr-previous man died after his leg was severed in a weird boating accident on Lake Fenton.

It occurred round 1 p.m. Thursday on the docks on Brown Road, off of Lengthy Lake Street. Police say Mark Elmer and fifty three-yr-previous Tom Mark have been at Elmer’s father-in-regulation’s home to maneuver his boat off the lake for the season.

Mark advised police they might not get the boat off of the hoist as a result of the water degree within the lake was too low. In an try to interrupt the boat free from the hoist, Mark was revving the boat’s engine whereas Elmer was leaping on the again of the boat.

As Mark was revving the engine, he advised police he heard Elmer fall into the water and scream that he minimize his leg. Mark informed police it wasn’t till he tried to get Elmer on the dock that he realized Elmer had truly fell on the boat propeller, severing his proper leg.

Mark was unable to raise Elmer onto the dock, so he helped transfer Elmer to shallow water and made a tourniquet together with his belt. He then ran throughout the road to a neighbor’s home and requested them to name 911. When Mark returned to the lake, he stated Elmer struggling to breath. At that time, a Genesee County Sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and commenced CPR.

Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and rushed Elmer to the hospital, the place he died from his accidents.

The incident stays underneath investigation.
