Man accused of killing priest says he'll be spared death

ATLANTA (AP) — A person accused of killing a Florida priest in Georgia says he has reached an settlement with prosecutors that may spare him the demise penalty.

Steven Murray is charged within the April 2016 capturing dying of the Rev. Rene Robert. He advised The Related Press in a name from jail Tuesday night that he plans to plead responsible at an Oct. 18 listening to in trade for a sentence of life in jail with out the potential of parole.

Murray informed the AP: “It is lots of time, however I deserve it. Father Rene was a great man.”

Murray was a repeat offender Robert had been making an attempt to assist. Police stated Murray requested the seventy one-yr-previous priest for a journey in Jacksonville, Florida, then kidnapped him and killed him in Georgia.
