Kermit the Frog finding a new voice after 27 years

NEW YORK — Kermit the Frog is getting a brand new voice.

The Hollywood Reporter studies that Steve Whitmire has left his position because the voice behind the long-lasting Muppet. Whitmire has voiced the character since Muppets creator Jim Henson’s dying in 1990.

A Muppets Studio spokeswoman tells the retailers that longtime Muppets performer Matt Vogel might be taking up the position.

Representatives for Disney, which owns Muppets Studio, didn’t instantly return a request for remark Tuesday concerning the motivation behind the transfer.

Along with Kermit, Whitmire had voiced grumpy critic Statler, Rizzo the Rat and different characters for the Muppets.
