TEMPE, Ariz. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Former Jets coach and present ESPN analyst Herm Edwards will interview for the vacant Arizona State teaching job this week.
Edwards spoke about his curiosity within the job on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and a Phoenix radio station on Wednesday.
Edwards has not coached since 2008, when he was fired after a 2-14 season with the Kansas Metropolis Chiefs.
“Some individuals say, ‘He’s been out of soccer for a very long time,’” Edwards advised “SportsCenter.” “No, I haven’t. I simply haven’t coached soccer. My thoughts and my ardour continues to be in soccer. I coach it day-after-day that I stroll into this studio. I go to a number of school campuses, (have) spoken to loads of school groups, gone to school practices. … I’m .”
Edwards coached the Jets from 2001-05, main them to the playoffs 3 times. He was then employed by the Chiefs, who reached the postseason his first season earlier than profitable simply six video games over the subsequent two years. He has spent the final 9 years as an analyst for ESPN.
