Ex-Detroit Deputy Police Chief Indicted On Conspiracy, Bribery Charges In Towing…


(WWJ) Ex-Detroit Deputy Police Chief Celia Washington, who resigned a number of months in the past, was hit with an array of expenses Wednesday for her alleged position in a kickback towing scheme.

Washington faces federal conspiracy and bribery expenses.

The feds allege Washington would meet with the proprietor of a towing firm and “settle for hundreds of dollars in money.” In change she allegedly promised she would use her official place to steer enterprise and clean the best way for the corporate to obtain metropolis permits. The corporate shouldn’t be named within the grievance.

She was paid $three,000 in February 2016, in response to the grievance, which alleges she collected greater than $5,000 in the middle of the enterprise.

That is the newest domino to fall within the multi-million greenback kickback schemed that snared 17 defendants, principally in Macomb County. Defendants have been charged with crimes associated to kickbacks and public corruption tied to Chuck Rizzo Jr., former proprietor of rubbish empire Rizzo’s, and Gasper Fiore, proprietor of Boulevard & Trumbull Towing. The 2 allegedly carried out an elaborate scheme to complement themselves with a community of fraudulent consulting offers, kickbacks, shell corporations and stolen cash.
