Ex-Army reservist admits stealing many guns, escaping prison

BOSTON (AP) — A former Military reservist has pleaded responsible to stealing weapons from an Military Reserve facility in Massachusetts, escaping from a Rhode Island jail and making an attempt to rob two banks.

James Morales pleaded responsible Monday to a slew of fees, together with theft of presidency property and tried financial institution theft.

Authorities say Morales stole six machine weapons and 10 handguns from an Military Reserve middle Worcester (WUS’-tur) in November 2015. Morales was captured in New York days later.

Prosecutors say Morales escaped from jail in December 2016 by climbing a basketball hoop, leaping onto a roof and going via a barbed wire fence. Morales was recaptured days later after making an attempt to rob two banks.


Morales is scheduled to be sentenced in February. His public defender hasn’t returned an e mail in search of remark.
