DPS: I-10 west of Phoenix still safe despite latest shooting

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Division of Public Security officers say a stretch of interstate that was the location of a lethal officer-concerned shootout is not any extra harmful than different highways.

DPS Director Frank Milstead stated at a information convention Wednesday that regulation enforcement maintains a daily presence on the roads and relaxation stops of Interstate 10 close to the California border.

The shootout Tuesday was the third deadly DPS-concerned capturing on I-10 west of Phoenix since January.

Phoenix police say 36-yr-previous Sladjan Petkovic fatally shot his neighbor on Monday. After being noticed at a Tonopah relaxation space early the subsequent morning, Petkovic and a trooper exchanged gunfire.

A number of officers from a number of businesses responded and a shootout ensued with greater than 300 rounds fired.

Milstead says Petkovic stays in life help after being critically wounded.
