DMX pleads guilty to fraud, dodging $1.7 million in taxes

NEW YORK (AP) — DMX has pleaded responsible in New York to tax fraud, admitting he hid hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenues to dodge $1.7 million in taxes owed.

The rapper, also referred to as Earl Simmons, faces as much as 5 years in jail when he’s sentenced in Manhattan federal courtroom.

Decide Jed Rakoff set sentencing for March 29, although the date is more likely to be postponed as DMX continues rehabilitation for drug and alcohol points. The forty six-yr-previous hip-hop artist was arrested final summer time.

In a launch, appearing U.S. Lawyer Joon Kim stated DMX evaded the Inner Income Service by insisting to be paid in money each time attainable and by having royalty funds diverted to the accounts of monetary surrogates.
