Detroit Police Union President Faces Felony Charge

CLARKSTON (WWJ) — The chief of the Detroit police union confronted a felony cost in courtroom on Friday.

Mark Diaz, President of the Detroit Police Officers Affiliation, was arraigned Friday afternoon in Clarkston’s fifty two District Courtroom on malicious destruction of a constructing — a felony — and a misdemeanor reckless driving cost.

The fees got here after injury was carried out to the Holly Academy in Holly on December 20. Oakland County Prosecutor Paul Walton stated Diaz used his automotive to strike a culvert and a visitors barrier within the faculty’s parking zone.

“He didn’t hit the constructing itself, he broken the property adjoining to the varsity, which can also be encompassed or coated by the statute,” Walton informed WWJ Newsradio 950.

Walton stated Diaz was off-obligation and in his personal automotive when the incident occurred.

Private bond was set at $10,000.

Diaz is due again in courtroom on March three for a possible trigger listening to, whereas a preliminary examination has been set for March 10.
