SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) Authorities say a Southern California police officer was justified in capturing to dying a person pressured from his locked van by a gushing hose after he threatened to set himself on hearth.
The Orange County District Lawyer’s Workplace on Wednesday stated 33-yr-previous Michael Anthony Perez was shot after officers tried negotiating with him for about an hour to exit the van and when he lastly did he reached for a knife.
Investigators say police from the town of Orange pulled over Perez on March 12 after seeing he had an arrest warrant. They are saying he confirmed officers a fuel can, lit a cigarette and threatened to start out a fireplace within the parked van.
The district lawyer’s workplace launched video during which officers urged him to exit the van peacefully.
