Accused blackmailer of former NY governor: Lift gag order

NEW YORK (AP) — A Russian lady who was accused of blackmailing disgraced former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer is in search of to carry a courtroom-mandated gag order so she will speak about what she says are Spitzer’s fetishes.

The New York Submit reviews that Svetlana Zakharova filed papers in Manhattan state Supreme Courtroom in search of to carry the gag order imposed as a part of her prosecution.

Zakharova referred to as police in February 2016 claiming Spitzer had choked her. Spitzer stated she was extorting him.

She later was arrested and charged with forgery and grand larceny. She ultimately pleaded responsible to a misdemeanor.


Spitzer spokeswoman Lisa Linden referred to as Zakharova’s new allegations “reprehensible lies from an extortionist.”

A prostitution scandal pressured Spitzer, a Democrat, to resign as governor in 2008.
