BOSTON (AP) Massachusetts prosecutors will dismiss greater than 6,000 convictions tied to a former chemist who authorities say was excessive virtually day-after-day for eight years whereas she labored at a state drug lab.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts and the state’s public defender company stated Thursday that a number of district attorneys have notified them of their plans to dismiss instances that relied on proof examined by Sonja Farak. A number of different prosecutors have not but stated what number of instances they intend to toss.
Farak pleaded responsible in 2014 to stealing cocaine from the state crime lab on the College of Massachusetts Amherst and was sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
Farak’s case is separate from one other Massachusetts drug lab scandal that resulted within the dismissal of some 21,000 convictions this yr.
